An as independent, nonprofit organization, Maine Veterans’ Homes relies on support from individuals, civic groups and the business community to help us achieve our mission of “caring for those who served.” Every day we care for approximately 600 Veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents in our six Homes throughout the state.
It’s our privilege to not only provide excellent healthcare for our Veterans, but to develop patient-centered programs that address the whole person.
Where Does My Donation to MVH Go?Donations from the community go to the Resident Activities Funds at our Homes, which provide programs that keep our residents active and happy. We take them out to dinner at area restaurants, to shows, concerts and sporting events; we bring in entertainment and present different opportunities to create art. Residents go fishing, an activity they enjoyed before coming to Maine Veterans’ Homes, and they also discover new passions.
How Can I Support Maine Veterans' Homes?
We’ve compiled a Community Fundraising Guide that gives you ideas on how to raise funds for Maine Veterans. In addition to ideas, we tell you exactly how to go about organizing an event to benefit our residents and the help we can offer in doing that. We are honored and humbled every time someone decides to support our Veterans and their families.
Our Community Fundraising Guide includes fun ways for children to support Maine Veterans’ Homes: bottle drives, guessing games or collecting pennies are just a few ideas. We also have a list of fundraisers that individuals, organizations and the business community can easily organize.
We are also a CLYNK To Give Partner, which means you can donate proceeds from your returnables directly to Maine Veterans’ Homes via their website, or you can contact the Development Office for Maine Veterans’ Homes bags, which you would fill and return to your local Hannaford.
In addition, when you shop through Amazon Smile, you have an option to select Maine Veterans’ Homes to benefit from nearly every purchase you make.
Don’t forget, social media has become a popular place to raise money for a charitable cause in place of birthday, wedding or anniversary gifts. To do that, the Development Office will help set you up with a personalized, secure webpage that’s easy to share with your friends and family.
