Veteran Makes Maine His Home

It was August 1964 and the Vietnam War was nearly 10 years in when Gregory Tidd, only 18, joined the United States Navy.

Born Nov. 4, 1946 in Greenville, Rhode Island, he has two siblings. Greg served a month in the service before he was honorably discharged in September 1964. Veterans only have to serve one day of active duty be a resident at any of the six locations of Maine Veterans' Homes.

Greg lived in Rhode Island for 40 years before moving to Massachusetts, then Maine. In 1964 he married and had four children. He later divorced and remarried and had two more children after moving to Maine.

For most of his career, Greg worked as a metal plater. His hobbies include playing guitar, carpentry and building models. Greg is October Veteran of the Month at Maine Veterans’ Homes - Machias. Thank you for your service, Greg.
