Maine Veterans' Homes - Machias congratulates Gracie Farley on her 2016 Wellness Recognition Award.
Gracie began her journey in 2013 when two friends invited her to go with them to a local gym. She started off on the elliptical machine and could only do two-three minutes, but finally worked her way up to 45 minutes.
Soon Gracie took up swimming. Swimming led to walking, and she now even occasionally jogs in the evening. All told, Gracie has lost more than 104 pounds!
Gracie’s weight loss has been gradual and due to exercise, portion control, and in her words “no soda, nothing processed (boxed or frozen dinners), lots of water, and obviously a lot of willpower!”
Having achieved these remarkable results, she’s trying to decide how to celebrate...will it be skydiving or hiking Mt. Katahdin?
We will have to wait and see what she decides, but it’s clear that nothing is going to get in the way of Gracie reaching her dreams.
Way to go Gracie, we are all so proud of you!
