South Paris MVH Opens New Restaurant-Style Dining

Delicious entrees and restaurant-style dining are just a few of the features highlighting the dining program at the South Paris Maine Veterans’ Home.

New Dining Area Opens at MVH South Paris

The brand new dining area includes a state-of-the-art kitchen, restaurant-style dining with an expanded menu, skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows to allow beams of natural light within and a handicapped-accessible heated outdoor patio. It’s all topped off with a ceiling pattern resembling an American flag.

“Our residents and their families have just been thrilled,” South Paris Administrator Brad Peck says. “It brings that outside feeling within, like you’re going to a restaurant. It provides freedom and flexibility, and the food is outstanding.”

The new dining area is open 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m. daily with seating for 32. Residents and families can order off the menu anytime during those hours, with menu options rotating throughout the year.

Chef Barb Hooper, who has been with Maine Veterans’ Homes for several years, continues to serve as head chef and does a fantastic job. “Families and residents are always complimenting on the good food,” Brad says.

Hooper consults with a dietitian to ensure menu options are not only delicious, but also healthy and nutritious.

“Maine Veterans’ Home has always placed a keen eye on keeping facilities modern and accommodating,” Brad says. “This is just one more way we can provide quality of life to our residents, so they can live the life they want to live.”
